The new species, Bulbophyllum claviforme, originated from Son La province and was cultivated in Ho Chi Minh City. The publication presents a detailed description and figures for this species. It differs from all known members of the Bulb. alliance by the color of the flowers, the short inflorescence, and the clavate hairs along the margin of the dorsal sepal and petals.
Bulbophyllum thydoii is described as a new species of sect. Brachyantha. This species is morphologically close to Bulb. umbellatum and differs by the synanthous inflorescence, petals which proximally do not overlap with the lateral sepals and larger flowers with median sepal 15 - 20 mm long.
Two new colorforms of Bulbophyllum retusiusculum RCHB. F. 1869 were found in Vietnam. The yellow colorform without any red or pink coloration is described as Bulbophyllum retusiusculum f. flavum, the dark brown colorform as Bulbophyllum retusiusculum f. brunneum.
A new variety of the natural hybrid Paphiopedilum × aspersum from Vietnam is described as var. trantuananhii.
A new variety of Paphiopedilum concolor from Vietnam is described as Paphiopedilum concolor (Lindl. ex Bateman) Pfitzer var. trungkienii Aver., O. Gruss, C. X. Canh et N. H. Tuan. The variety distinctly differs from all known infraspecific taxa of Paph. concolor in sepals, petals and lip speckled with unclear more or less dull purple-violet blotches particularly well visible on lateral petals.
An overview of the Paphiopedilum complex around Paph. gratrixianum. The former variety daoense is upgraded to the distinct species Paph. daoense.
