Orchid Paintings by Dang Xuan Bui

Dang Xuan Bui is an 83 year-old artist who resides in Placentia, CA. He has been growing orchids for nearly 40 years. Dang has been a member of the American Orchid Society for over 30 years and has also been a part of various orchid societies in Southern California since his retirement in 1992.

He learned painting by taking classes at Illinois Central College and Bradley University in Peoria, IL. While living there, he was taught by several local artists from 1978-1992. His paintings were done mostly in acrylic, a colorful medium which lasts forever without ever fading or cracking. Growing orchids and painting are his hobbies. Since 1995, he has displayed his art work at the Fascination of Orchids International Show. Dang has also given free painting classes to members of the Orange County Orchid Society and Vietnamese Orchid Society in Garden Grove, California.

In 1995, he donated two of his paintings ("Orchid of Vietnam" and "Orchid of Guatemala") to the American Orchid Society which are now hung at the AOS Visitor Center in Del Ray Beach, Florida.
